Ripe for the Harvest

Speaker : Craig Martin

Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.” But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?” “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.

A Different Kind of Food

When the disciples urged Jesus to eat, He responded with words that shifted their understanding: “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work.” Jesus revealed that obedience to God’s purpose brings a deeper satisfaction than anything the world can offer.

This moment invites believers to reflect on what truly sustains them.

Seeing What God Sees

Jesus challenged the common mindset of waiting: “Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’?” Instead of delay, Jesus called for awareness. The fields were already ripe, and the time to act was now.

The message emphasized that spiritual opportunities are often closer than we realize.

The Call to Open Our Eyes

“Open your eyes and look at the fields!” This command urges believers to become attentive to the people and moments God places before them. The harvest represents hearts ready to receive truth, hope, and the love of Christ.

God invites His people to participate in the work He is already doing.

Joining in God’s Work

The message concluded with a call to action—to align our priorities with God’s mission and step into the work He has prepared. When we live with purpose and obedience, we experience the joy of partnering with God in bringing life and transformation to others.

The harvest is ready. The invitation is to respond.
