Sermon : January 4, 2026

Speaker : Maury Brenneman

The first Sunday of 2026 at Fellowship Missionary Church opened with joyful, powerful worship, celebrating the presence of God and the hope of a new year. As the church gathered to praise the Lord, hearts were prepared to reflect on a defining question for the year ahead.

A New Year, One Defining Question

In this sermon, the message centered on a single, life shaping question for 2026: Will you accept Jesus Christ and all that He offers, or will you reject Him?

Drawing from John 12:12–19, the message explored Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem not simply as a Palm Sunday moment, but as a declaration of who He truly is: the Messiah, the King, and the Savior who brings eternal salvation.

Three Responses to Jesus

The sermon highlighted three types of people present in the crowd that day responses that still reflect the condition of hearts today:

1. Those Who Adored Jesus
These were the people who praised Him openly, laid down palm branches, and declared Him King. They recognized Jesus as Savior and responded with worship, gratitude, and obedience.

2. Those Who Were Apathetic
Some stood in the crowd but remained unmoved watching, listening, yet unchanged. The message warned against lukewarm faith, calling believers to move beyond routine religion into genuine devotion and surrender.

3. Those Who Rejected Jesus
The religious leaders opposed Jesus, threatened by His authority and power to transform lives. Their rejection revealed hearts resistant to truth, even when confronted with undeniable evidence of God’s work.

A Call to Choose

The sermon challenged the church to reflect honestly:
Are we worshiping Jesus wholeheartedly, standing on the sidelines in apathy, or resisting His call on our lives?

As the new year began, the message reminded everyone that Jesus did not come merely to be admired but to be followed. True life, freedom, and salvation are found in choosing Him fully.

Worship & Response

The service concluded with heartfelt worship, proclaiming the power of Jesus’ blood and praising the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The congregation was invited to respond not just with words, but with lives committed to Christ in the year ahead.
