The Shepherd King

Speaker : Maury Brenneman

Jesus is the promised Shepherd King—born in Bethlehem, fully God and fully man—who does not merely bring peace but is peace.

A Night of Worship and Praise

The service opens with heartfelt worship, combining original songs with beloved Christmas hymns such as O Come, O Come Emmanuel, Angels We Have Heard on High, Noel, O Come Let Us Adore Him, and O Little Town of Bethlehem.

Through music and praise, the congregation proclaims the joy of Christ’s arrival and worships Jesus not just as a newborn child, but as the victorious King who sets the world free.

These moments of worship set the tone for a night filled with reverence, gratitude, and celebration of God’s redemptive plan.

The Promise of the Shepherd King

At the center of the service is a rich and engaging message rooted in Micah 5:2, which foretells the birth of a ruler from Bethlehem small in size, yet chosen by God for something eternal.

The message explains how Bethlehem, meaning “House of Bread,” points prophetically to Jesus as the Bread of Life, born in a manger a feeding trough and revealed as the Good Shepherd who feeds and cares for His flock. Jesus fulfills this prophecy as the Shepherd King, one who rules not by force, but by love, sacrifice, and faithfulness.

Spoken hundreds of years before Christ’s birth, this prophecy reminds us that God’s timing is perfect and that He always keeps His word.

Jesus Is Our Peace

A central theme of the message is that Jesus does not simply bring peace He is peace. Drawing from the biblical meaning of Shalom, the teaching reveals that true peace is not just the absence of conflict, but the presence of wholeness, restoration, and well-being.

In a world marked by brokenness, fear, and unrest, Jesus offers a peace that does not depend on circumstances. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He restores our relationship with God and brings healing to fractured hearts and lives.

A Faithful God, A Fulfilled Promise

The message walks through the faithfulness of God across generations from King David, to the prophet Micah, to the birth of Jesus showing that even when centuries pass, God never forgets His promises.

Jesus, eternal and everlasting, stepped into His own creation, humbled Himself, and became fully human so that humanity could be restored. The Shepherd King was born in humility, lived in obedience, and brought salvation, peace, and hope to the world.

Community, Celebration, and Hope

The service also highlights the life of the church community, including prayer, Scripture reading, testimony, and support for ministries such as Redemption House, reflecting Fellowship’s heart for generosity and service.

The gathering concludes with worship and a closing benediction, reminding everyone that the King who has come will come again.

A Christmas Invitation

The Shepherd King is a powerful reminder that Christmas is not just a story of the past, but a declaration of God’s faithfulness then, now, and forever.

As we celebrate the birth of Christ, we are invited to worship Him, trust His promises, and live in joyful anticipation of His return.
